In collaboration with Art History Professor Ludovico Geymonat and several other colleagues, I have been working toward a digital twin of St. Mark's Cathedral in Venice.
Based on his hypothesis that a series of statues that today reside around the world originated in Venice in a series of Biblical scenes, we are using Lidar and Photogrammetry to scan statues and place them in a model of the cathedral. For pre-vis purposes I have generated appropriate material textures for the cathedral using AI image generation, as seen in the sample below.
